UNB, Dhaka :
The High Court on Tuesday asked the Finance Division Secretary to investigate the absence of Bangabandhu’s photo and distortion of the Liberation War history in the book ‘History of Bangladesh Bank’ and submit a report to his end.
An HC bench of Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Mohammad Ali passed the order following a writ petition filed by Bangladesh Human Rights
Commission Chairman Iktedar Ahmed.
The court also issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why the distortion of the Liberation War history and the absence of the photo of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the book should not be declared illegal.
The Finance Division Secretary and five others have been made respondents to the rule which is returnable in four weeks.
Bangladesh Bank has published a book ‘History of Bangladesh Bank’ in December 2017 in which there is no existence of the photo of Bangabandhu and it also distorted the history of the Liberation War, including the ‘7th March Speech’. Iktedar Ahmed filed the writ petition yesterday morning in this regard.
