Probe body to grill 6 Maheshkhali ‘Razakars’

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 on Wednesday allowed a plea of the investigation agency to interrogate six alleged Razakars from Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, at its Dhanmandi safe house in the city.
Justice Obaidul Hassan, chairman of the three-member panel of the ICT-2, passed the order accepting a plea from prosecutors Rana Dasgupta and Tureen Afroz.
According to the order, the ICT investigation agency will be able to interrogate the accused separately in four days.
The investigation agency while probing the crimes committed by Cox’s Bazar Razakar kingpins Salamat Ullah Khan, Abdur Rashid and Maulavi Jakaria, found the
involvement of another 16 people with the crimes against humanity and acting on their plea, the tribunal had issued warrants to arrest them.
Police after that has been able to arrest Salamat Ullah Khan, Abdur Rashid, Shamsuddoha, Jinnat Ali, Maulavi Osman Gani, Nurul Islam and Badshah Miah on
different occasions. Of them, Shamsuddoha breathed his last in police custody on May 27.
According to the Investigation agency, the accused were involved in monstrous crimes like murder, genocide, rape, arson, looting and forced conversion during the War of Liberation.
