A committee has been formed to handover the charge of the canteen of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University to new traders.
Brigadier General Md. Abdullah-Al-Harun, Director of BSMMU hospital, has been made chief of the three-member committee.
Officials said that, several teachers of the university while taking meals found that the canteen boys brought a sack of rotten chicken and kept those in the canteen’s fridge.
The authority closed the canteen temporarily after getting information from the teachers.
When contacted, Professor Dr. Kamrul Hasan Khan, the Vice-Chancellor of BSMMU, told The New Nation yesterday, “A probe body will be formed on Sunday to investigate the matter and to take punitive action against those who were responsible for the heinous crime.”
He said that higher officials sat today (Saturday) to form a probe body. They discussed about preliminary investigations. A full probe committee will be formed.
He also said that the manager who used to run the canteen had been stopped.
“It was a heinous crime. It has damaged the image of the institute. Guilty must be punished,” the VC said.
