The probe committee submitted its report on the fatal train accident at Mondabag Railway Station in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria to the Director General of Bangladesh Railway yesterday.
The committee comprising four members headed by Divisional Transport Officer (DTO) submitted the report to the Director General of Bangladesh Railway Md Shamsuzzaman through the General Manager (East Zone) on Friday noon.
Speaking to media, DTO and head of the probe committee Md Nasir Uddin told
that they submitted the report in three days after formation of the committee.
When asked about the cause of the horrific accident, chief of the probe committee said that it would not be proper to make any comment since the railway minister himself would formally brief the journalists after compiling with the findings of three probe committees reports.
Nasir Uddin Ahmed, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (East Zone) told the media that after receiving the probe report on Friday, we forwarded it to the Director General.
It is noted that a Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita was coming from Chattogram, and crashed into another Chattogram -bound train Udayan Express coming from Sylhet near Mondabagh Railway Station in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria around 2:45am.
Finally this fatal accident took 16 lives and injured more than 80 others.
