The probe committee formed to investigate the killing of Sinha Md Rashed Khan, a Retired Major of Bangladesh Army, in Teknaf began their investigation officially from
Tuesday morning.
The first meeting of the committee was held in the conference room of Cox’s Bazar Circuit House around 11am.
Mizanur Rahman, Head of the probe committee, and Additional Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong, said the investigation will be impartial and transparent and would not disclose any details of the investigation.
The committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs had been asked to submit their report within seven days.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Ramu 10 Infantry Division and another officer are the members of the committee on behalf of the army.
Additional Deputy Inspector General of Chittagong Range Md Zakir Hossain is also on the committee on behalf of police.
On Friday night, police shot retired Bangladesh Army Major Sinha Md Rashed Khan reportedly for obstructing police work in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
Meanwhile a legal notice was also issued to form a Judicial Inquiry Committee in the interest of revealing the real facts and impartial investigation into the death of a former army officer in a police firing in Teknaf.
Advocate Zulfiqar Ali Junu, Chairman of the National Law Years Council, issued the legal notice to the Home Secretary and Law Secretary on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday phoned the mother of Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan Adnan, who was killed in police firing at a checkpoint in Teknaf upazila.
Rashed’s eldest sister Sharmen Shahria Ferdoush said in 20-minute long conversation at about 10:00am, the Prime Minister expressed her condolence and assured that justice would be done.
