The Election Commission on Monday sent a letter to the Inspector General of Police Mohammad Javed Patwary demanding a probe report regarding the attack on Dr Kamal Hossain’s motorcade within three days.
The letter was sent to the IGP in the morning, said EC Joint-Secretary Md Abul Kashem.
On December 14, Dr Kamal Hossain’s motorcade came under attack allegedly by the rowdy elements near the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial at Mirpur while returning after paying tributes to martyred intellectuals, leaving at least 10 people injured.
However, Dr Kamal managed to escape the attack and remained unhurt.
Later, at a press conference, Dr Kamal described the attack as a serious sign of disrespect to martyred intellectuals. A case was filed in this regard with Darussalam Police Station on Saturday night.
Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal Hossain’s motorcade came under attack near the Martyred Intellectuals’ Memorial in the capital’s Mirpur on December 14.
