The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started investigation into a complaint that Rajshahi Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chairman Professor Abdur Rouf Mia embezzled Tk 25.19 lakh, by issuing a
cheque in the name of another person? ACC Deputy Director Mesbah Uddin has been given the duty of looking into the matter.
As stated in the complaint, the chairman on February 26 issued a cheque in favour of one Masud Chowdhury without the approval of the board. And Masud without making any delay withdrew the entire amount from the account maintained with a branch of the Rupali Bank in Rajshahi.
Chairman Rouf Mia however denied the allegation and said that he paid Masud Chowdhury, a lawyer of the education board, his arrear dues.
The account officer of the Board, however claimed that Masud Chowdhury was not the lawyer of the board.
DD Mesbah Uddin said that he had started the investigation from Wednesday, and it would be completed within the stipulated time.
