Pro-liberation force should remain in power: Maya

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya on Wednesday said the pro-liberation force should remain in power to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War.
“The pro-liberation forces should remain in power continuously to resist war criminals, militancy and terrorism,” said the minister.
The minister made the remarks while placing a wreath at a monument in Suhrawardy Uddyan here. The memorial was built in memory of members of allied forces of Indian Army who sacrificed their lives during the War of Liberation.
Referring to the next general election as crucial, Maya said the collaborators of the defeated forces of the Liberation War suggested ensuring level-playing field to participate in the next general election.
“So the pro-liberation forces should remain alert to resist the anit-liberation force elements,” he added.
Former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice-Chairman of Muktijoddha Command Council Ismat Quadir Gama, joint general secretary of Dhaka city South Awami League Abdul Haque Sabuj and Chief Coordinator of 14-party alliance Abdul Gafur Azad, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The minister also prayed for eternal peace of the deceased Indian forces who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War of Bangladesh and conveyed his sympathy to bereaved families.
He gave sincere thanks to the people and government of India for their support and cooperation during the Independence War.
Nearly 6,000 soldiers sacrificed their lives during the Independence War of Bangladesh in 1971.
