Leaders of pro-BNP professional’s body Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad on Monday alleged that the inaction of the law enforcers in tracing BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed has proved that the government is behind his disappearance.
They made the allegation while talking to reporters after visiting Salahuddin’s Gulshan residence.
The delegation of the Peshajibi Parishad, led by its acting convener Ruhul Amin Gazi, went to the missing BNP leader’s house around 12 noon and talked to his wife and consoled her.
The Parishad’s other delegation members include Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists’ (BFUJ) president Shawkat Mahmud, Engineers’ Engineers Association Bangladesh (EAB) president ANH Akhter Hossain, vice president Riazul Islam Rizu, agriculturist Hasan Jafir Tuhin and Jatiyatabadi Sangskritik Jote president Rafiqul Islam.
BNP and Salahuddin’s family members have been claiming that law enforcers picked him up from a house at Uttara on the night of March 10, an allegation denied by the law enforcers and the government.
Talking to reporters, Shawkat Mahmud said Salahuddin’s family have proof that the members of law enforcement agencies picked him up.
“Police didn’t accept a general diary of Salahuddin’s family after he has gone missing. The attorney general didn’t show Salahuddin’s wife and lawyers the report law enforcers submitted to the court (on his disappearance.) Over all, the government’s silence over the issue has given an impression that it has a link with the incident,” he observed.
