UNB, Dhaka: BNP on Tuesday morning alleged that ruling party men with the help of law-enforcers drove out the polling agents of their party-backed candidates from nearly 500 polling stations of Dhaka north and Dhaka south city corporation polls within two hours of the start of the voting. “As per the information we have received so far, the voting is going on in around 500 polling centres of the two Dhaka city corporations without the polling agents of BNP-backed candidates. The ruling party also didn’t allow their polling agents at many other centre,” said BNP central committee Religious Affairs secretary Masud Ahmed Talukder. He brought the allegation at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapalton central office at 10am. Masud also alleged that the presiding officers and other officials engaged in conducting the elections are behaving like Awami League activists. “Silent terrorism is being carried out in most polling centres with the help of presiding officers and law-enforcers,” the BNP leader said. He said common voters could not enter the voting centres due to obstructions by the ruling party men while many voters are not feeling secure to come to voting centres. Masud said some election observers are also working as ruling party activists and abetting the troublemakers.
