Three organisations of transport workers have threatened to gherao the political office of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at Gulshan in the city today [Thursday] protesting the non-stop hartal-blockade and street-violence across the country.
The pro-ruling party organizations are: Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik League, Sammilito Gari Chalok Somaj and Garments Sramik Somonnoy Parishad.
They issued the threat in separate statements on Wednesday. Earlier on Sunday, leaders of the transport
sector announced the besiege programme giving ultimatum till Wednesday, if hartal-blockade was not withdrawn by this time.
In its statement, Paribahan Sramik League said that they would gather in front of the National Press Club at 10:00 am to march towards Gulshan office. Leaders and workers of the organiation distributed leaflets in front the Press Club yesterday supporting its programme.
On the other hand, Sammilito Gari Chalok Somaj said that they will march towards the BNP chief’s office after holding a rally in front of the Press Club at 11:00am.
Garments Sramik Somonnoy Parishad in a separate statement said they will gather at Gulshan-2 circle at 11:00 am and march towards Khaleda’s office after holding a rally there. Earlier on January 15, police intercepted a group of under the banner of ‘Dinmajur Sramajibi Janata League’ when they tried to besiege the Khaleda’s office.
