Pro-AL panel declared for SCBA election

Pro-Awami League lawyers’ forum ‘Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parishad (SASP)’ announced the panel for Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) executive committee elections of 2021-22 sessions.
Senior lawyer Abdul Matin Khasru has been picked up for the presidential post in the upcoming polls, while Advocate Md Abdul Alim Miah Jewel has been nominated for the post of the secretary.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor and Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad’s member-secretary Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh declared their names with 12 other members in the Bangladesh Bar Council office on Saturday afternoon.
Advocate Muhammad Shafiq Ullah and Advocate Md Ali Azam will contest the posts of vice president, Barrister Safayet Sultana Rumi and Advocate Nur-e Alam Uzzal will vie for the posts of assistant secretary and Dr Md Iqbal Karim for the post of treasurer from the panel.
Advocate Mintu Kumar Mandol, Barrister Muntasir Uddin Ahmed, Barrister Md Sanoar Hossain, Advocate ABM Shibley Salekin, Advocate Md Sirajul Haque, Advocate Mohiuddin Ahmed and Advocate Mahfuzur Rahman Roman will contest the seven posts of executive member from the panel.
The SCBA poll is likely to be held on March 11 and 12.
Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, a platform of pro-BNP lawyers, yet have not announced the names of their candidates for the on the other hand, upcoming Supreme Court Bar Association edition.
In the last election 14 posts, including the major posts, were sharply divided between the main two panels. Ruling Awami League backed Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parisad secured six posts including the posts of the president, one vice-president, two assistant secretaries and two executive members and Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum secured rest of the posts.
