A ruling Awami League (AL) backed councillor was stabbed to death by some unidentified miscreants over prior enmity at Charpar under Phulpur Municipality of Mumensingh district on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Sadequr Rahman, 35, Councillor of Ward No 1. He was Convener of the Awami Jubo League, Municipality unit.
AKM Mahbub Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Phulpur Police Station said, a gang of unidentified miscreants stabbed Sadequr over the prior enmity with local JL leader one Milon in the area around 7:30pm. He died on the way to a a local hospital around 8:00pm.
Police have detained three persons for interrogation in connection with the incident, the Police official said.
We are investigating the incident, the OC said.
The body has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital mortuary for an autopsy, he said.
