Pro-AL ‘Blue Panel’ sweeps DU Senate polls

Pro-Awami League teachers ‘Blue Panel’ swept the Dhaka University senate election on Monday.
The ‘Blue Panel’ teachers won 33 senate members posts out of 35, while the pro-Bangladesh Nationalist Party ‘White Panel’ bagged only two seats of DU senate election.
Dhaka University treasurer and election commissioner Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin declared the election results in the afternoon.
The ‘Blue Panel’ winners are Nazma Shaheen, Md Rahmat Ullah, AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan,
Abul Mansur Ahmed, AKM Jamal Uddin, Ishtiaque Moin Syed, SM Abdur Rahman, Abu Md Delwar Hossain, Kajal Krishno Banrjee, Towhida Rashid, Delwar Hossain, Baitullah Kaderi, Mubina Khondkar, Md Aftab Ali Shaikh, Md Aftab Uddin, Abdul Aziz, Abdus Samad, Ziaur Rahman, Fazlur Rahman, Md Mazibur Rhaman, Md Ali Akkas, Sabita Rizwana Rahman, Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, Supriya Shaha, Subrata Kumar Aditya, Hasibur Rashid, SM Rezaul Karim, Chandra Nath Podder, Dr. Kazi Hanium Maria, Jannatul Ferdous, Papia Haque, Nusrat Jahan and Lafifa Jamal.
ABM Obaidul Islam and Lutfur Rahman were elected from BNP-backed White panel.
The election was held at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm on the campus while around 1,600 voters cast their votes.
