Pro-active scientific, industrial research stressed

Scientists and business leaders at a workshop on Sunday underscored the need for more pro-active scientific and industrial research for benefiting the public in general.
They said all the industrial research and findings should be linked to the private entrepreneurs for successful marketing of the products together with making those familiarized and accessible to the consumers.
The observation came in a daylong workshop titled “Method Innovation for Research Development and Challenge of Industrialization” Local station of Bangladesh Council for Science and Industrial Research (BCSIR) organized the workshop at its conference hall on Monday.
President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Md Muniruzzaman, local unit president of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries Prof Rozety Naznin and Member (Development) of BCSIR Golam Rabbani addressed the workshop as resource persons with BCSIR station Director Dr Husna Parveen Nur in the chair.
The discussants opined that the BCSIR scientists should be more practical and their research outputs must be people-oriented. Conducting and carrying out valueless research by spending public money must be stopped. They put emphasis on exploring the potentiality of the region so that it could be flourished industrially for its economic emancipation.
Referring to the adverse impact of climate change, chamber leader Muniruzzaman called upon the scientists to innovate adaptive measures through in-depth research to coup with the unpleasant situation.
Besides, he referred to the government’s commitment to build knowledge, science and technology-based society and asked the researchers to supplement the endeavor through their wholehearted efforts. The BCSIR should take the responsibility of facing all the existing challenges of industrialization.
