Prizes of the first-ever Dhaka Women’s Marathon’2016 were distributed among the winners on Wednesday at a function at the conference room of Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city.
BAF general secretary Ibrahim Chengis was the chief guest at the function and later he distributed the prizes among the winners.
Chairman of Everest Academy and Everest conqueror Musa Ibrahim, Chairman of Joyjatra Foundation Helena Jahangir and Administrator of Bangabandhu National Stadium Mohammad Yeahia were also present on the occasion.
Initiated by the Dhaka South City Corporation, the event was organised by Everest Academy under supervision of Bangadesh Athletics Federation(BAF).
Sumi Akhter of Bangladesh Army emerged champions to receive prize money of Tk 30,000 while Mirona Akhter, also from Bangladesh Army, finished runner-up to get prize money of Tk 25,000 in addition to trophies.
Besides, Smriti Akhter, Jerin Akhter and Sonia Akhter, all from Bangladesh Army, shared 3rd, 4th and 5th places to receive Tk, 20,000, 15,000 and 10,000 respectively.
Some 300 women from all walks of life took part in the first-ever women’s marathon held in the capital on August 12.
