The prize-giving ceremony of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) friendly cricket match, arranged for the first time on the occasion of its 61st founding anniversary, was held at the club’s VIP lounge on Thursday afternoon.President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hassan Papon, MP, distributed the prizes as the chief guest.The friendly cricket match between press club president and general secretary elevens ended in tie.Addressing the function, BCB boss Nazmul Hassan said, “Bangladesh is now holding a strong position in the ICC and leading the two strong standing committees of the global body.””The present condition of the country’s cricket following the postponement of Australia men’s and South Africa women’s teams’ tours to Bangladesh for security concerns will be changed and improved very soon,” he added.Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, BCB Director Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, JPC general secretary Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, Editor of Dainik Samakal Golam Sarwar, journalist leaders Amanullah Kabir, M Shahjahan Miah, Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Altaf Mahmud, Shyamol Dutta, Saiful Alam, Mohammad Qumruzzaman and Shamsul Haque Durrani also spoke on the occasion with JPC president Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman in the chair.Later, BCB President Nazmul Hassan and BCB Director Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan were awarded with JPC crests.
