Prize giving ceremony of 2nd HUB Debate Mash Up held

The closing and prize giving ceremony of 2nd Debate Mash Up organized by Hamdard University Bangladesh Debating Society (HUBDS) was held on Monday, in Hamdard University Bangladesh campus premises. On the occasion, Professor Dr. Tanvir Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor (In charge), was present as Chief Guest. All the Deans of different faculties, the Treasurer, the Registrar, and the Controller of Examinations were present also. The event was chaired by Farooq Hossan, President, Hamdard Biswabidyalay Bangladesh Sonskriti-Chorcha Kendro (HBBSCK). Nujhat Nuari Islam and Mahmuda Akter coordinated the event. The Vice Chancellor said that debate is one of the best extra-curricular where the students can gain knowledge regarding education, politics, culture, philosophy, and many other things. It also develops students’ communication skills. A student may have the highest CGPA but without communication skill, he or she may not be able to pursue his/her desired profession.
The prize giving ceremony was followed by the closing ceremony. 8 teams had participated in the 2nd Debate Mash Up between 31 May and 15 June. The finalists were Dhumketu and Moitry. The topic of the final debate was, “This house will provide veto power to the Central Bank regarding budget.” The Champion team members were Md. Shariful Islam, Md. Ashraful Hossain, and Nahida Islam Liza. All of them are the students of Bachelor of Business Administration. The runner up team members were Saiful Islam, Mohammad Omor Faruk, and Alzaid Mohammad Mizan. They are the students of EEE Department. Md. Shariful Islam won the award of Best Speaker (Final) as well as the award for Debater of the Tournament.
For outstanding performance, the HUBDS decided to award another team Rangdhanu. Khaled Saifullah, Jannatul Ferdous Daisy, and Mojahidul Islam were the members of the team.
