The prize distribution ceremony of the Marcel 1st Division Chess League was held on Monday at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room here.
Dr. Biren Sikder MP, State Minister for Youth and Sports Ministry, was the chief guest in the function and distributed prizes, sponsored by WALTON Group and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation.
FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn), head of sports and welfare of Walton Group and KM Shahidulla, vice president of Bangladesh Chess Federation were present as special guests.
Unbeaten champions of the league Esoft Arena Chess Club, which clinched the title of the league with maximum 18 points, received Taka 50,0000 as cash money while runners-Up Sonargaon Chess Club received Taka 30,0000. Sonargaon Chess Club earned 15 points.
Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society, which finished third position with 14 points, received Taka 20,000 as cash prize.
Besides, the board prizes according to performance are 1st Biard-Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan (Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society), 2nd Board- Indian IM Gusain Himal (Esoft Arena Chess Club), 3rd Board-Indian IM Prince Bajaj (Esoft Arena Chess Club), 4th Board- Uten (Esift Arena Chess Club), Reserve 1- Md. Abzid Rahman(Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society) and Reserve 2-Soham Dey (Basir Memorial Chess Club).
