The prize distribution ceremony of the Saif Powertec International Rating Chess Tournament, sponsored by Saif Powertec Limited and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation was held on Tuesday afternoon at the Auditorium Lounge of National Sports Council Tower.
Benazir Ahmed ,BPM (BAR), President of Bangladesh Chess Federation and Director General of Rapid Action Battalion distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Tarafder Mohd Ruhul Amin, Managing Director of Saif Powertec Limited was present as the special guest.
K M Shahidullah, Chairman of the Tournament Committee presided over the prize-giving ceremony.
Gazi Shayiful Tarique, Vice President of Bangladesh Chess Federation, Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim, General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation and Md Moniruzzaman Palash, Secretary of the Tournament Committee delivered speeches in the ceremony.
GM Enamul Hossain Razib of Bangladesh Navy emerged as the unbeaten champion while GM Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib of Bangladesh Navy became unbeaten runner-up, GM Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh Navy finished 3rd and Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan of Hasan Memorial Chess Club became 4th.
Champion GM Razib received cash prize money of Tk one lac while runner-up GM Rakib received Tk seventy five thousand, GM Zia and Mostafa received Tk thirty five thousand each.
