State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr. Biren Sikder MP said the present government is sports friendly and it’s visible in Government’s development work in every sphere of life along with sports of the country.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a prize distribution ceremony of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Sports Festival held on Wednesday at the DRU auditorium.
DRU president Jamal Uddin presided over the ceremony. Walton sports and welfare division chief FM Iqbal Bin Anwar was present as the special guest.
Biren said it’s good sign for journalists as apart from their profession they are now spending time with their families in recreational activities.
He also hoped that the National Sports Council and Sports Ministry would extend cooperation to DRU in holding these recreational sports events for the journalists.
DRU general secretary Raju Ahmed and sports secretary M Mojibur Rahman were also present on the occasion.
At least four hundred male and female members of DRU took part in this year’s sports festival.
