UNB, Sherpur :
An under-trail prisoner, accused in a murder case, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in a bathroom of the district jail on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sohrab Ali, 32, son of Abdul Jabbar of Rouha Charpara village of sadar uapzila.
Police arrested Sohrab on April 17 following a case filed in connection with the murder of his elder brother Abul Kashem. Sohrab allegedly stabbed his brother to death following enmity over a land.
Jail sources said Sohrab hanged himself from the grill of the window with a piece of cloth in the bathroom around 8:30 am. Being informed by other prisoners, jail authorities rescued Sohrab and took him to the district hospital where doctors declared him dead.
