League leader Prime Bank South Zone, riding on a 174 run stand in the 3rd wicket by Shahiar Nafees and Mohammad Mithun, scored 385 runs in the first innings against Islami Bank East Zone on the 2nd day of the four-day final round of the Bangladesh Cricket League at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Monday.
Prime Bank South Zone resumed the first innings in the morning with overnight 272 for 2 in 70 overs and finally piled up a good total of 385 for all in 109.2 overs on the 2nd day.
Night watch batsman Shahriar Nafees (79) boosted his side scoring the team highest 96 runs off 185 balls featuring 13 fours while another night watch batsman Mohammad Mithun (88) played another entertaining innings of 95 runs off 175 balls hitting 14 fours.
Veteran national spinner cum skipper Abdur Razzak furnished his 38-ball 35 runs innings with five fours and two sixes while Mosaddek Hossain (19), Shohag Gazi (18) and Nurul Hasan (15) were the other major scorers for the side apart from Imrul Kayes’ 56 and Anamul Haque’s 39 on the first day.
Abul Hasan and Nazmul Apu grabbed three wickets each for 31 and 78 runs respectively while Ahmed Sadikur took two wickets conceding 83 runs. Alok Kapali and Kamrul Islam Rabbi took one wicket each.
In reply, Islami Bank East Zone opened the first innings on the 2nd day (Monday) and scored 159 for 3 in 50 overs when bails were drawn for the 2nd day with opener Sadman Islam unbeaten on 86 runs off 166 balls including 13 fours.
Sadman contributed 74 runs in 21 overs in the opening stand pairing with Liton Kumar.
In the 4th wicket stand, Sadman again paired with Alok Kapali and made an unbeaten 66 runs in 22.4 overs to carry the team total to 159 runs from 93 for 3 in 27.1 overs.
Liton Kumar scored 38 runs off 55 balls with four fours and one six while skipper Alok Kapali was in batting on 18 runs when the bails were drawn for the day.
Shohag Gazi grabbed two wickets for 39 runs while Abdur Razzak took one wicket for 42 runs
