Prime Bank South Zone beat Walton Central Zone by three wickets in the one-day version of Bangladesh Cricket League at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Monday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Mahmudullah Riyad-led Walton Central Zone scored 213 for all in 45.3 overs with wicketkeeper cum batsman Dhiman Ghosh contributing the team highest 64 runs off 61 balls, featuring eight fours and one six.
Besides, skipper Mahmudullah Riyad (31), Sharif (20), Nadif Chowdhury (20), Abdul Majid (16), Rony Talukder (16) and Shamsur Rahman (15) were the other major scorers for the Central Zone.
National pacer Rubel Hossain grabbed five wickets for 42 runs while two spinners-veteran Abdur Razzak and Enamul Haq Junior-took two wickets each giving away 44 and 53 runs respectively.
In reply, Prime Bank South Zone, riding on a half century by skipper cum lower order batsman Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, reached their target scoring 216 runs for 7 in 48.2 overs Captain Mashrafe pairing with Abdur Razzak guided the team towards victory scoring an unbeaten 73 runs in the 8th wicket stand. Mashrafe contributed an unconquered 50 runs off 33 balls featuring four fours and three sixes and was adjudged the man of the match while Abdur Razzak scored not out 28 runs off 21 balls hitting two fours and a six.
Beside, Saikat Ali (50), Mohammad Mithun (34) and Shahriar Nafees (20) were the other notable contributors for Prime Bank South Zone.
Spinner Elias Sunny grabbed three wickets for 11 runs while Shuvagata Hom took two for 32 runs.
