Prime Bank Cricket Club keep their super-six hope alive in the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League beating league leader Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club by seven wickets via D/L method in a rain-affected match at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Monday.
With the day’s well merited victory, Prime Bank CC stayed in the super league race securing 12 points from all the 11 first-phase matches while Prime Doleshwar have earlier confirmed the super league berth with 14 points and the day’s defeat did not affect their position.
Sent in to bat first, Prime Doleshwar SC were all out for 188 runs in 47.4 overs with national coloured batsman Raqibul Hasan contributing 44 runs off 75 balls hitting two fours and a six.
Besides, lower order Rony Talukder scored 36-ball 33 runs featuring four fours and a six, opener Imtiaz Hossain made 35-ball 32 runs, including four fours, while Sanzamul Islam made 29-ball 20 runs for the Prime Doleshwar.
Mohammad Azim and Monir Hossain grabbed three wickets each conceding 28 and 31 runs respectively while Shuvagata Hom and Rubel Hossain took two wickets each giving away 34 and 39 runs respectively.
Chasing a revised target of 165 runs in 36 overs, Prime Bank CC easily reached their ultimate goal scoring the match-winner 165 runs for 3 in 31.3 overs featuring an unbeaten 114 runs in the 4th wicket stand by Sabbir Rahman and Indian Unmukt Chand.
After the dismissal of top three batsmen — Medehy Maruf (9), Nurul Hasan (4) and Shahnaj Ahmed (22) — for 51 runs in 13.4 overs, one down Unmukt Chand contributed an unconquered 59 runs off 74 balls with one four and three sixes.
National all rounder Sabbir Rahman, who came to bat in number five, hammered unbeaten 62 runs off 57 balls featuring four fours and three sixes and was adjudged the man of the match.
Rahatul Ferdous bagged two wickets for 27 runs.
The day’s other match between Kalabagan KC and Kalabagan Cricket Academy was abandoned due to rain at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur and the match rolled for the reserved day (Tuesday).
Sent in to bat first, Kalabagan Cricket Academy managed only 34 runs for four wickets in 14.2 overs against devastating bowling by national skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, who claimed two wickets for 13 runs.
Among the Kalabagan CA batsmen, only opener Musukur Rahman reached the double figure scoring 17 runs off 39 balls with two boundaries.
