Police in a drive arrested the prime accused in the Savar two ‘model girls rape’ case from Charkhil area in Daulatpur upazila of Manikganj district on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Liton Ali Mandol, ex. informer of local Detective Branch (DB) of Police.
An official of DB (North) of Dhaka district, said, “A team of detectives arrested Liton conducting a drive based on information from the Charkhil area around 4:00pm.”
Liton initially confessed the rape at the school building on the day, the detective official said.
“We are interrogating him for more information,” he said.
Liton will be produced in the court today (Wednesday) with the remand plea, he said.
On Saturday, a court placed Mokarram and Mizan on 7-day remand, two other accused in the case filed for raping two young model girls in Savar of Dhaka on Thursday.
According to police sources, two model girls had allegedly been raped by Liton Ali Mondol and some of his accomplices including Mokarram and Mizan on promise that they would get the scope of becoming models.
According to the victims, Liton and his cohorts raped them at gunpoint in Legend College of Sobhanbagh Maholla in Savar Municipal area on Thursday evening.
Relatives of the victims alleged that the rapists confined the victims in an office room and raped them till midnight one after another.
Hearing screams, locals rescued the girls but Liton and his accomplices managed to flee from the scene.
A case was filed with Savar Model Police Station in this connection, he added.
