Police has arrested pick-up van driver Maruqul Islam, 30-the prime accused in the madrasa student rape case.
Kishoreganj thana police in a drive on Friday dawn picked up him from Kachua village of Gangachara Union in Rangpur district. Maruqul is the son of Maznu Mia from Ronchandi Union’s Sonakuri village.
Officer-in-Charge of Kishoreganj thana said that the prime accused had been arrested from
Rangpur district’s Kachua village. Efforts are on to arrest the remaining accused.
Police Super visited the spot at midday and assured of proper action against the guilty.
Nilphamari Deputy Commissioner told the reporters in the morning of Friday that the incident of raping the girl drew the attention of Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor after publication in the newspapers.
It is mentionable that a gang of three miscreants raped her, student of class nine of a madrasa. He said that the victim would be given all kinds of legal supports by the government.
The girl is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
