Surovi Akhter Nahida, prime accused in the killings of a businessman’s mother-in-law and housemaid in city’s Dhanmondi area, yesterday (Thursday) confessed his involvement in the murder.
Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka recorded her statement on Thursday afternoon.
The CMM Court on Tuesday placed Surovi and four others on
a five-day remand each to allow police to quiz them over the murder.
Four others, who were remanded are: Security guard Mohammad Nuruzzaman, cleaner Gausal Azam Prince, Atiqul Haque Bachchu, bodyguard of the son-in-law of victim Afroza Begum and electrician Belayet Hossain.
Surovi was arrested from a slum in Agargaon area on November 4.
The bodies of Afroza Begum, 65, and Bithi, 19, a domestic help, were recovered from a flat on the third floor of House No 21 on Road 28 of Dhanmondi on November 1.
Dilruba Sultana, daughter of Afroza, filed the case with Dhanmondi Police Station of the city against five people including Bachchu and Surovi.
