A primary school headmaster was shot to death by miscreants at Mahendrapur village in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia district early Saturday. The deceased was identified as Munsi Rabiul Islam, 45, headmaster of Mahendrapur Government Primary School. Officer-in-charge of Kumarkhali Police Station Lutfar Rahman said a gang of miscreants swooped on Rabiul in front of his house in the area and opened fire at him at about 1:00 am while he was returning home riding a motorcycle, leaving him critically injured. Rabiul was rushed to Kumarkhali Health Complex where doctors declared him dead. Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Saturday morning. A case was filed in this connection. Earlier on December 8 last, Munshi Rashidur Rahman, 45, cousin of Munsi Rabiul Islam and also joint secretary of Kumarkhali upazila unit BNP and chairman of Jagannathpur union parishad, was also gunned down by miscreants at Mahendrapur Bazar in the same upazila when he was taking tea at a tea stall. — UNB
