A priest of a temple allegedly raped a 6-year old child inside a temple at Birampur village under Jashore sadar upazila. The police arrested the priest on receipt of complaint, said Ansar Uddin,

The police official told that the police on Tuesday night arrested Prokash Benarjee, priest of Sree Sree Anukul Thakur Mandir in connection with raping a 6-year old child. ‘
The child was sexually assaulted by the priest in a room of the temple at night on April 16 when worship was going on,’ he added.
Hearing hue and cry of the child, worshipers rushed to the room and became stunned.
Then a case was lodged with Jashore Kotwali Police Station by the mother of the victim, the additional superintendent of police said.
