Prices of rice have registered a slight fall with the arrival of new Boro rice in the market of the district.
Some traders of Narsingdi district town told BSS that the prices would come down further with adequate supply of new rice in the markets.
Coarse variety of rice is being sold from Tk. 34 to 36 per kg against Tk. 38 to 40 per kg a month ago. Fine variety of rice sells at Tk. 44 to 47 as against Tk. 48 to 50 per kg.
There has been a good production of boro paddy in the district this year. Farmers of the district are happy for producing more boro paddy this year.
Prices of vegetables have also come down with huge supply of summer vegetables in the local markets. Different kinds of summer vegetables grow aplenty in Shibpur, Belabo and Raipura upazilas this season.
BSS correspondent recently visited a number of hats and bazars of different upazilas in the district to see that farmers are selling their vegetables at lower prices.
Lady’s finger, Koida, Brinjal, Korola are selling at Tk. 12 to 15 per kg. Potal and Borboti and cucumber are sold from Tk. 20 to 22 per kg. Pumpkin is sold from Tk. 15 to 25 each according to size.
