Prices of fish remain high

The prices of riverine fishes remain costly despite abundant supply in the city’s kitchen markets. Price being costly, the members of the lower income group hardly can purchase.
However, about the fish prices, Puti was selling at Tk 250 per kg at Karwan Bazar, Kholisa at Tk 300, Chapila at Tk 400, local Koi at Tk 600, Fali Chanda (Rupchada) at Tk 1200, Chanda (small) at Tk 250, Cheh at Tk 450, Walking fish at Tk 350, Eel at Tk 450, Meni at Tk 400, Sheat at Tk 600 to 800 per kg, Ek-thota (Kaitta fish) at Tk 550, Feat Fish at 550, Pangas river at Tk 700, cultivated Pangas at Tk 170, Rajputi at Tk 450, Tilapia at Tk 180, Ruhi fish was selling at Tk 350 per kg, medium-sized Carp at Tk 250-300 a kg, big-sized Katol at Tk 400 per kg, cultivated climbing fish at Tk 250 per kg, local variety of Catfish (Shing) at Tk 500-900, Barbel at Tk800 per kg, big-sized Shrimp at Tk 800-1000 per kg and small shrimp at Tk 350-400 per kg.
Of the vegetables, bean was selling at Tk 40 per kg, brinjal at Tk 30 to Tk 35, tomato at Tk80, tomato green at Tk 30 to Tk 40, bitter gourd at Tk 30 to Tk 35, cucumber at Tk 40 to 50, okra at Tk 30 to 35, papaya at Tk 20, potato at Tk 26, carrot at Tk 40, french at Tk 40, radish at Tk 15, parbal at Tk 20 to 25, teasel gourd Tk 30 to 35, snake gourd at Tk 30 to 35, pumpkin (medium size) Tk 35 to 50 per piece, cauliflower Tk 15 to 25, cabbage Tk 20 to 25, bottle gourd Tk 40 to 50, ash gourd Tk 25 to 35, coriander leaves at Tk 250 per kg, green chilli at Tk 40 to 50, capsicum (red) at Tk 450 kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 250 to 300 per kg.
Five litres of Rupchanda brand canned soybean oil was selling at Tk 578 and Teer brand at Tk 570 instead of Tk 560 and at Tk 555 respectively. Local onion was selling at Tk 46 to Tk 48 instead of Tk 44 to 46 and imported onion was selling at Tk 38 to Tk 42 instead of Tk 36 and Tk 40 per kg. Imported garlic was selling at Tk 85 per kg and local one at Tk 80. Imported ginger was selling at Tk 180 to 190, local produce at Tk 120 only, and lentil at Tk 115.
The price of coarse rice was selling at Tk35 to 36 per kg and Pyjam at Tk 36 to Tk 37. Nazishail brand of rice was selling at Tk 55, Minicate at Tk 52-54, Pilau rice (Badsha bhog) at Tk 80 to Tk 100 and Kalojira at Tk 100 to Tk115 only.
A medium size of local cock was selling at Tk 400 to 550 and hen at Tk 300 to 340. The boiler chickens’ price stands at Tk 160 per kg. Beef was selling at Tk 320 per kg while mutton at Tk 500. The egg (chicken) was selling at Tk 34 per hali (4 pieces) and egg (duck) at Tk 38 to Tk 40.
