Anisul Islam Noor :The prices of brinjal, pulse including grass pea, local onion, sugar, potato, date, muri, spice items, pulses power, salad items, chicken, indigenous fishes have increased due to Ramzan despite huge supply in the weekend on Friday in the city’s kitchen markets.Maintaining higher rate, prices of chickpea (gram), one of the most essentials in Ramzan, remained static at Tk 90 to Tk 105 per kg.However, price of beef eased down to Tk 420 per kg at many of the markets from the first day of the fasting month which was Tk 440-Tk 450. But prices of both broiler and layer chicken moved up by Tk 10-Tk 20 per kg a week. Broiler was sold at Tk 185-190, while layer at Tk 200-Tk 220 per kg.Price of local variety of Cat fish (Shing) has increased Tk 40 to 60 per kg on Friday. It was selling at Tk 600- 750 per kg, barbel at Tk 700 to 900 per kg, butter fish at Tk 500 to 700, lobster at Tk 600 to 800 kg, shrimp (River) at Tk 450-550 kg, Puti at Tk 270 per kg, puti (live) at Tk 350 kg, Kholisa at Tk 250, Chapila at Tk 400, cultivated Koi at Tk 170 to 200 per kg and Koi (river) at Tk 600, Fali Chanda (Rupchada) at Tk 1100 kg, Chanda (small) at Tk 200 kg, walking fish (Shoal) at Tk 300 kg and Eel at Tk 400 to 600 kg, sheat (boal) at Tk 350 to 800 kg, Ek-thotta (Kaitta fish) at Tk 350 to Tk 400, Baila at Tk 450 to 600 kg, coral fish at Tk 550 kg, river Pangas at Tk 350 kg, cultivated Pangas at Tk 130 kg, Rajputi at Tk 300 kg, Tilapia at Tk 140 to Tk 200 kg, Ruhit at Tk 250 to Tk 380 kg, medium size carp (katol) at Tk 230 -360 per kg.The egg (farm) was selling at Tk 35 per hali (four pieces), egg (local) at Tk 50 and egg (duck) at Tk 45 to Tk 48. Pigeon (per pair) was selling at Tk 180 to Tk 250 and four koil birds at Tk 200 only.Prices of different varieties of brinjal jumped to Tk 70-Tk 90 per kg on Monday from Tk40 -Tk 60 per kg on Sunday. The price, however, declined to Tk 50 to Tk 80 per kg on Friday at most of the city markets.Prices of other vegetables, Teasle gourd was selling at Tk 50 per kg, potato at Tk 23 to 26, tomato at Tk 40 to 55, green chilli at Tk 60 to 70, french at Tk 35 to 40, carrot at Tk 45, bitter gourd at Tk 30 to Tk 35, cucumber at Tk 35 to 50, spone gourd at Tk 45 to 50, arum at 45 to 50, papaya at Tk 40, bottle gourd at Tk 30 to 40, ash gourd at Tk 15 to 30 piece, coriander leaves at Tk 350 kg, capsicum (red) at Tk 300 kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 250 to 300 kg. Five liters of Rupchanda brand canned soybean oil was selling at Tk 455, Rupchanda (two litres) at Tk 185, and loose super palm oil at 78 per liter, sugar price at Tk 58 to 65 per kg and molasses at Tk 70 to 120 and flattened rice at Tk 80 to 140 based on quality, the red lentil at Tk 135 per kg, while the imported lentil at Tk 155 per kg and mash at 148 per kg, grass pea (Kheshari) Tk 80-Tk 90 per kg from Tk 75- Tk 85 per kg. The coarse rice was selling at Tk 32 to 34 per kg, Pyjam at Tk 40 to 42 kg, Nazirshail brand of rice at Tk 44 to 52 kg, Minicate at Tk 44 to 50 kg, Kattari Bhog at Tk 75, Pillau rice (Badsha Bhog) at Tk 90 to 120 kg and Kalijira at Tk 115 to 130 kg. Coarse flour was selling at Tk40 per kg and a 2-kg packet at Tk 75. Green mango was selling at Tk 30 to 120 per kg, Amropali mango (ripe) at Tk 80 to 100 per kg, apple at Tk 130 160 per kg, Date of medium varieties reached Tk 220-Tk 300 per kg from Tk 180-Tk 220 per kg a week back. Date (Mariam) at Tk 800 per kg, pineapple at Tk 20 to 40 per piece, watermelon (small) at Tk 40 to 50 per piece and guava at Tk 80 120 per kg. Local onion was selling at 45 per kg, while imported onion at Tk 25 to 32. Local garlic was selling at Tk120 to 140 on Friday, while imported garlic was selling at Tk230 t0 250 per kg. Ginger was selling at Tk70 to 130 per kg.
