The price of 148 products will come down, while that of 63 products will rise as per the budget proposal presented by Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday in the Jatiya Sangshad for the fiscal year 2014-15.
The minister proposed more VAT on imported mobile phone sets, fuel, cigarette, ceiling fans, LPG cylinder, saving lamp, bicycle tubes, and hybrid cars.
He has also proposed more VAT on imported colour television, outdoor and indoor unit of air conditioners, photo copy and fax machinery, parts of printers, bush bar tracking system, gas cylinders with capacity of five thousand litters, foreign MS bars and rods and foreign billets as well.
The price of onion, garlic, edible oil, papers, sugar, raw material of herbal medicines, 1,701 to 2,750 CC cars and furniture, soaps, perfumes, mobile SIM card, tooth brush, doors, windows, aluminum and sanitary wire will fall.
The price of two stroke and four stroke auto rickshaws, three wheeler engines, filter, imitation jewelry, rough diamond, truck suit, ready made garments products, oven, fabric and silk cloths, among others, also will decrease.
