Price of vegetables remain sky-high

The price of vegetables and rice remained almost unchanged, while that of rice fell slightly due to the government’s few effective measures. However, the middlemen (foria) are making highest price, say the retailers and the growers.
Brinjal was selling at Tk 60 to 80 per kg on Thursday in the city’s kitchen markets, okra at Tk 60 to 70, french beans at Tk 70 -80, carrot at Tk 100 to 140, green chilli at Tk 160 to 180, potato at Tk 18 to 20 per kg, tomato at Tk 100 to 120, parbal at Tk50-60, raddish at Tk 50, arum at Tk 30, snake gourd at Tk 50 to 60, bitter gourd at Tk 70, bottle gourd at Tk 50 to 70, teasel gourd at Tk 50, ash gourd at Tk 30 to 40 per piece, green papaya at Tk 25 per kg, cauliflower at Tk 40 per piece, coriander leaves at Tk 400 per kg, capsicum (red) at Tk 470 per kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 300 per kg. Lemon was selling at Tk eight to Tk ten per piece
Per dozen (12 piece) of egg was sold at Tk 85 to 90.
The broiler chicken price has remained stable in the week. The white broiler chicken was selling at Tk 140 to Tk 1145 per kg. Mother chicken was selling at Tk 160 to 170 per kg, the sonali cock (Pakistani origin) at Tk 180 to 220 per piece. Local (deshi) chicken weighing 800gm to 900gm was selling at Tk 300 to 350 per piece.
Beef was selling at Tk 490-Tk 520 per kg and red meat (goat) at Tk750 to 800 per kg
Local variety of onion was sold at Tk 55 to 60 per kg while the imported variety at Tk 40 to 45 per kg in different city markets. Garlic was selling at Tk 80 to 120 per kg and ginger at Tk 100 to 120 per kg.
The rice price decreased slightly. Superior quality of Miniket rice was selling at Tk 65 per kg, average miniket at Tk 55 to 60 per kg, and Najirshail at Tk 60 to 65. Jeerashail, Paijam and Lata at Tk 56 to 60 per kg on Thursday. Medium quality of Brridhan-28 and Lota were sold at Tk 54-58 per kg. Different kinds of coarse rice like Swarna was selling at Tk 53 and similarly the hybrid quality at Tk 52 to Tk 57 per kg.
The price of fishes has decreased by Tk 20 to 50 per kg. cultivated pabda fish was selling at tk 350 per kg, Ruhit at Tk 200 to 350 per kg based on size, katla at Tk 200 to 300 per kg, Koi (cultivated) at Tk 150 to Tk 160, Shing and Magur at Tk 350 to Tk 600 based on size, Shoul at Tk 350 -450 per kg, sheat (boal) at Tk 450 to 600, Golsha at Tk 300-400, Tengra at Tk 350-400 per kg, Aire fish at Tk 450 to 650 and Baila at Tk 400 to 600 per kg in the city markets. Coral fish was selling at Tk 450 to 600 per kg, Pangas at Tk 120 to 140 per kg, Rajputi at Tk 250 per kg and Telapia at Tk 140 to Tk 180 per kg.
