Prices of most of vegetables have increased by Tk 10 Tk 15 per kg at the weekend on Friday. Both vegetables traders and consumers blamed blockade programme enforced by the BNP.
However, bean was selling at Tk 30 to 40 per kg at Karwan Bazar on Friday. Of the other vegetables, brinjal was sold at Tk 30 50, tomato at Tk 25 to 40, tomato green at Tk 25, bitter gourd at Tk 35 to Tk40, cucumber at Tk 35 to 40, okra at Tk 40 to 45, papaya at Tk 20, potato (new) at Tk 20 and patato (old) at Tk 22, carrot at Tk 40, french at Tk 40, snake gourd at Tk 30 to 35, pumpkin (medium size) Tk 40 to 50 per piece, cauliflower Tk 20 to 25, bottle gourd at Tk 40 to 50, ash gourd Tk 20 to 25, coriander leaves at Tk 100 per kg, green chilli at Tk 60 to 70, broccoli at Tk 30 per piece, China cabbage at Tk 35, buah bit at 50 per kg, at capsicum (red) at Tk 300 kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 200 to 220 per kg.
Five litres of Rupchanda brand canned soybean oil was selling at Tk 510 and Teer brand at Tk 490 to Tk 560. New varieties of onion were selling at Tk 45 per kg, onion (old) at Tk 50 and imported onion at Tk 34. Imported garlic was selling at Tk 90 to 100 per kg and local one at Tk 80. Imported ginger was selling at Tk 110 to 130, local produce at Tk 80 to Tk 90 only, and lentil at Tk 115.
Of fish prices, Puti was selling at Tk 250 per kg at Karwan Bazar, Kholisa at Tk 300, Chapila at Tk 400, local Koi at Tk 600, Fali Chanda (Rupchanda) at Tk 1200, Chanda small at Tk 250, Cheh at Tk 450, walking fish at Tk 350, Eel at Tk 450, Meni at Tk 400, sheat at Tk 600 to 800 per kg, Ek-thota (Kaitta fish) at Tk 550, Feat Fish at 550, Pangas at Tk 700, cultivated Pangas at Tk 170, Rajputi at Tk 450, Tilapia at Tk 180, Ruhi at Tk 350 per kg, medium-sized katol at Tk 250-300 a kg, big-sized katol at Tk 400 per kg, cultivated climbing fish at Tk 250 per kg, local variety of catfish (Shing) at Tk 500-900, barbel at Tk 800 per kg, big-sized shrimp at Tk 800-1000 per kg and small shrimp at Tk 350-400 per kg.
A medium size of local cock was selling at Tk 400 to 550 per piece and hen at Tk 300 to 340. The boiler chickens’ price stands at Tk 165 per kg. Beef meat was selling at Tk 320 per kg while redmeat at Tk 500. The egg (chicken) was selling at Tk 34 per hali (4 pieces) and egg (duck) at Tk 38 to Tk 40.
On Friday, the coarse rice was selling at Tk 35 to 36 per kg, pyjam at Tk 36 to Tk 37, Nazishail brand of rice at Tk 53, Minicate at Tk 52-54, Pillau rice (Badsha bhog) at Tk 80 to Tk 100 and Kalogira at Tk 100 to Tk115 only.
