Price of vegetables in city markets stable

The influx of winter vegetables in the city’s kitchen markets has kept the price stable. Supply line opening after hartal, huge vegetables has arrived in Dhaka, making both buyers and retailers happy.
Of the vegetables, bean was selling at Tk60 per kg, brinjal at Tk 30 to Tk45, tomato at Tk70, bitter gourd at Tk 30 to Tk40, cucumber at Tk 40 to 50, okra at Tk 40 to 45, papaya at Tk 20, potato at Tk26, carrot at Tk 70, french at Tk 50, radish at Tk 25, parbal at Tk30 to 35 per kg, teasel gourd at Tk40 to 45, snake gourd at Tk40 to 45, pumpkin (medium size) at Tk 50 to 60 per piece, cauliflower at Tk20 to 40, cabbage at Tk 30 to 40, bottle gourd at Tk50 to 60, ash gourd at Tk35 to 40, coriander leaves at Tk 250 per kg, green chilli at Tk80 to 90, capsicum (red) at Tk550 kg and capsicum (green) at Tk300 to 450 per kg.
Nurun Nahar, resident of Poribagh, said, “We are happy as the all kinds of winter vegetable are available at reasonable price in the markets.
Talking with the reporter at Kawran Bazar Today (Friday), Nurun Nahar said though winter vegetables’ supply is abundant in the markets, most of them are of hybrid. “I had to search for a longer period of time to get fresh ones”, she said.
Of fishes, scorpion and barbal were selling at Tk 600 to Tk 800, lobster and prawn at Tk 700 to Tk 1000, ruhit (salmon) at Tk 280 to 450, carp at Tk 230 to Tk 400, pangas at Tk 170 to 200, tilapia at Tk 180 to Tk 230, mola at Tk 250, climbing fish (Koi machh) at Tk 250 to 600, lata at Tk 200 to Tk 300, tatkini at Tk 230 to Tk 250, sheat fish (Boal machh) at Tk 300 to Tk 500, fry fish at Tk 250, butter fish at Tk 800 to Tk 1,100. Marcel (one kind of sea fish) at Tk 250 to 270, Surma fish at Tk280 to 340 and Mackerel at Tk 250 to 300 only.
Shahidul Alam, a retired government official, said, he always likes river fish but price thereof is high.
The egg (chicken) was selling at Tk34 per hali (4 pieces) and egg (duck) at Tk38 to Tk 40. A medium size of local cock was selling at Tk 400 to 550 per piece and hen at Tk 300 to 340. The boiler chickens’ price stands at Tk 175 per kg, beef meat at Tk320 and read meat at Tk500 only.
Nazishail brand of rice was selling at Tk55. As for other brands of rice, coarse rice was selling between Tk 33 and 34, Pyjam at Tk 35, Kataribhogh at Tk 75 and Minicate at Tk 52 to 54, pillau rice (Badsha bhog) at Tk70 to Tk 90 and Kalojira at Tk100 to Tk115 only.
Imported garlic was selling at Tk 90 and local one at Tk 80. Imported ginger was selling at Tk 190 to 220, local produce at Tk 160 only, local onion at Tk 40, imported onion (India) at Tk 38 and lentil at Tk 110. Five litres of Rupchanda brand canned soybean oil was selling at Tk 560 and Teer brand at Tk 555. Sugar sells at Tk48 per kg.
