The price of onion, garlic, and coarse and aromatic rice marked a rise in the city markets but vegetables and fish price remained stable at the weekend on Friday in the city’s markets. The markets abound with winter vegetables.
Local onion was selling at Tk 45 to Tk 48 per kg and imported onion was selling at Tk 38 to Tk 42. Imported garlic was selling at Tk 85 per kg and local one at Tk 80. Imported ginger was selling at Tk 180 to 190, local produce at Tk 120 and lentil at Tk 115. Five litres of Rupchanda brand canned soybean oil was selling at Tk 560 and Teer brand at Tk 555.
The price of coarse rice increased by Tk One to two per kg, selling at Tk 35 to 36 per kg and Pyjam at Tk 36 to Tk 37. Nazirshail brand of rice was selling at Tk 55, Minicate at Tk 52-54, Pillau rice (Badsha bhog) at Tk 80 to Tk 100 and Kalogira at Tk 100 to Tk115 only.
Of the vegetables, bean was selling at Tk 50 per kg, brinjal at Tk 25 to Tk 35, tomato at Tk 90, bitter gourd at Tk 30 to Tk 40, cucumber at Tk 40 to 50, okra at Tk 30 to 35, papaya at Tk 20, potato at Tk 25, carrot at Tk 60, french at Tk 40, radish at Tk 25, parbal at Tk 30 to 35, teasel gourd Tk 40 to 45, snake gourd at Tk 40 to 45, pumpkin (medium size) Tk 45 to 55 per piece, cauliflower Tk 20 to 30, cabbage Tk 25 to 30, bottle gourd
Tk 50 to 60, ash gourd Tk 25 to 35, coriander leaves at Tk 250 per kg, green chilli at Tk 80 to 90, capsicum (red) at Tk 550 kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 300 to 450 per kg.
Of fishes the price of scorpion and barbal was Tk 600 to Tk 800, lobster and prawn Tk 700 to Tk 1000, Ruhi Tk 280 to 450, carp Tk 230 to Tk 400, pangas Tk 170 to 200, tilapia Tk 180 to Tk 230, Mola Tk 250, climbing fish (Koi fish) Tk 250 to 600, lata Tk 200 to Tk 300, Tatkini Tk 230 to Tk 250, Sheat fish (Boal fish) Tk 300 to Tk 500, fry fish Tk 250, butter fish Tk 800 to Tk 1,100. Marcel (one kind of sea fish) Tk 250 to 270, Surma fish Tk 280 to 340 and Mackerel Tk 250 to 300 only. The price of dry fishes was also increased by about Tk 30 to 50 per kg.
A medium size of local cock was selling at Tk 400 to 550 per piece and hen at Tk 300 to 340. The broiler chickens’ price stands at Tk 175 per kg. Beef was selling at Tk 320 per kg while redmeat at Tk 500. The egg (chicken) was selling at Tk 34 per hali (4 pieces) and egg (duck) at Tk 38 to Tk 40.
