Price of eggs shoots up in Bagerhat

Price of eggs produced in farms was so long within the reach of the common people. But suddenly the price of farm produced eggs has shot up Tk.8 by per Haly of four. At present it is now being sold in the local markets at Tk.32 per Haly of four as against of Tk.24 only one week ago. Following the rise of price of farm produced eggs price of eggs of ducks and home produced poultry-eggs has also registered high. Both eggs of ducks and local poultry are now being sold in the district markets at Tk.40 instead of Tk.32.00 in the last week. Due to the prevailing high prices of fish, meat and poultry birds common people who used to take eggs produced in farms as their substitute were now thrown into an utter distress.
Green chili, regarded as one of the must items for Bengali kitchen, has also registered high. The commodity is now being sold in the local markets at Tk.200 per kg as against of Tk.100 previously.
It was earlier mentioned that the price of all kinds of fishes are high in the district markets. Small sized hilsa is selling here at Tk.500 to Tk.800 per kg according to different sizes while the hilsa of standard sized is selling at Tk.1500 to Tk.5000 thousand according to sizes. Patari (Koral) is a popular fish of the localities. It is now being sold here at Tk.700 to T.1500 or more per kg as against of Tk.300 to Tk.700 previously. Ruhit is selling in the local markets at Tk.300 to Tk.600 or more per kg. Comparatively price of Koi fish cultivated in farms is chief. It is selling here atTk.250 to Tk.500 per kg according to different sizes.
Beef is selling here at Tk.450 to Tk475 per kg. It is alleged that in some cases flesh of buff allow is sold in the name of beef. Mutton is selling here at Tk.500 per kg. But quality mutton is hardly available in the local markets.
