The government has decided to reduce price of non-urea fertiliser, di ammonium phosphate (DAP) by Tk 9 per kg to reduce production of farmers.
Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzak said it at a press briefing at his Ministry office on Wednesday.
“The government has reduced the price of the DAP fertiliser to Tk 16 from Tk 25 per kg at all levels to favor our farmers,” he said.
As per the decision, now farmers can buy this non-urea fertiliser at Tk 16 instead of Tk 25 while the
dealers can buy it at Tk 14 instead of 23, the minister said.
The government has to spend Tk 800 crore for the subsidies annually in this regard.
The Minister said that, the government takes the decision to ensure food safety through inspiring the farmers to produce crops using environment- friendly fertilizer.
In 2014, the government fixed the price of DAP fertiliser at Tk 25 for the farmer-level and Tk 23 for the dealer-level.
