The prices of garlic between the local product and the imported one is about 100, which is illogical and unrealistic, said an ex-teacher of a private college. The locally produced garlic was sold at Tk 100 per kg at the weekend on Friday, while the imported garlic at Tk 200 Hatirpool, Dhaka.
On the other hand, prices of almost all kinds of vegetables are beyond the purchasing capacity of the poor section of people. When a poor man was asked about his reaction, he did not give ant reply, remained silent. . But the former college teacher said that the farmers do not get their right shares because of the intervention of the middle man.
The price of tomato and carrot increased whereas the price of brinjal and french decreased. And the fish was being sold at high price like previous r week.
While visiting capital kitchen market on Friday, it was seen that the traders are selling imported garlic at Tk 190 to Tk 200 and local at Tk 80 to Tk 100 which was Tk 80-100 and Tk 30 to Tk 40 three weeks ago.
kg onion is being sold at Tk 35 to Tk 40 while one week earlier it was at Tk 40-45.
Vegetables markets scenario there was no single vegetable, which is being sold at less than Tk 50 except potato and green papaya.
The carrot and tomato are being sold at Tk 150-160 and Tk 70-80 whereas one week earlier they were Tk 120-130 and Tk 50-60.
Other vegetables such as French is being sold at Tk 50-60, brinjal Tk 50-55, bitter gourd at Tk 50-55, green papaya Tk 35-40, parble, ladies finger, spone gourd, snake gourd at Tk 50-60.
There is no change in chicken’s price and being sold at Tk 155 to Tk 160 of broiler and Tk 290 to Tk 310 of Sonali chicken (Popularly known as Pakistani Cock). Beef is being sold at Tk 700.
The fish market is showing upward trend as Rohit fish is being sold at Tk 300 to Tk 450 per kg
while common fish Telapiah and Pangas are being sold at Tk 160 and Tk 180. The scorpion fish at Tk 300-460, walking fish Tk 400-600, Climbing fish Tk 200-230, butter fish Tk 300-450.
The price of Hilsa fish has jumped. One Kg weigh hilsa fish is being sold at Tk 1400 to Tk 1700, one week earlier it was Tk 1300 to Tk 1600. One the other hand, 600-700 gram weigh hilsa fish is being sold at Tk 1000-1200 while one week earlier it was at Tk 600 to Tk 800.
