Price-hike of onion again in Bagerhat

Price of newly harvested onion, a must item for Bengali kitchen has once again shot up in Bagerhat district markets, It is now being sold here at Tk.150 per kg as against of Tk. 80 only 4 days ago. As a result, the consumers in general and the commoner in particular were thrown into an utter distress. When contacted, a local wholesale trader of onion told this correspondent, due to the inclement weather prevailing for the last few days the supply of onion has fallen short and consequently, its price has registered high.
Following the inclement weather the prices of winter vegetables have also shot up…Cauliflower is now being sold here at Tk,40 per kg instead of Tk.35,onion flower is selling at Tk,40 per kg as against of Tk.30, Gazor is selling at Tk.50 or more instead of Tk.40, green chili js selling at Tk,90 per kg in lieu of Tk. 80 previously.
Price of garlic, one of the important gradients of Bengali kitchen is still high. Locally produced garlic is selling here at Tk.190 per kg. But its quality is very poor. On the other hand, imported Chinese garlic is selling here at Tk.160 per kg. Comparatively price of potato, a popular vegetable is cheap. The newly harvested potato is selling in the local markets at Tk.30 per kg while the old potato is selling here at Tk.25 per kg.
Price of rice is steady as before in the local markets while the price of edible oil is upward trend.
