Stock markets opened the week on Sunday with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were insurance and food and allied. A total of 268 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 52.61 points down at 5,390.70. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 12.22 points down at 1,265.38 and with 16.37 points down at 2009.01.
The daily trade fell to 9.47 crore shares from Thursday’s 11.92 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 395.66 crore from Taka 492.79 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 334 securities, prices of 50 securities closed higher against 261 losing issues. The major gaining issues were ADVENT, Legacy Foot, INTRACO, Rahim Textile and Sino Bangla. The major losing companies were BNICL, Meghan Condense Milk, Asian Insurance, Prime Life and MBL1STMF.
