Stock markets Tuesday closed of the week with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were ceramics, fuel and power, insurance and cement. A total of 207 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 52.08 points down at 5,289.99. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 11.16 points down at 1,222.18 and with 19.39 points down at 1,861.82.
The daily trade fell to 12.15 crore shares from Monday’s 13.47 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 433.51 crore from Taka 467.35 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 347 securities, prices of 57 securities closed higher against 262 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Monno Ceramics, Power Grid, Green Delta, LHBL and DESCO. The major losing companies were EBL, BD Finance, YPL, ICB3RDNRB and 1STPRIMFMF. Fortune topped the turnover list followed by Power Grid, BSC, EZQUIRENIT and Monno Ceramics.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 16.67 points down at 16,231.03.
At CSE, 226 issues were traded. Of those, 47 closed higher and 161 closed lower when 26.50 crore shares worth Taka 76.92 lakh crore changed hands.
