Stock markets closed on Monday of the week with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities. The falling major sectors were engineering, textile, fuel and power and IT Sector. A total of 157 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 39.92 points down at 5,239.06. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 12.93 points down at 1202.48 and with 12.84 points down at 1855.46 respectively.
The daily trade rose to 13.20 crore shares from Sunday’s 12.87 crore shares. But, the day’s trade value at the DSE decreased to Taka 518.43 crore from Taka 527.44 crore of the previous session.
At the DSE, prices of 96 securities out of the day’s 335 closed higher against 203 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were MLDYEING, Sonali Ansh, Style Craft, Libra Infusion and PENISULA. The major losing companies were OAL, SKTRIMS, Prime Textile, Summit Power and Intech.
