Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

Stock markets plunged further on Monday due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities. All the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges closed in red though at lower rate than the previous sessions.
The falling major sectors included travel and leisure, engineering and IT. A total of 168 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The border DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 11.12 points down at 5689.67. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 2.32 points down at 1301.94 and with 3.11 points down at 2116.45.
The day’s trade value at DSE declined to Taka 722.74 crore from Sunday’s Taka 777.23 crore and the daily trade fell to 21.03 crore shares from 23.23 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 327 securities, prices of 121 securities closed higher against 168 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Matin Spinning, Tunghai, Central PHL, Delta Spinning and Regent Textile. The major losing companies were United Air, Renwick Ja, ISNLTD, ILFSL and Libra Infusion.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed by RSRM Steel, IDLC, Regent textile and City Bank.
