Stock markets closed on Monday with downward trends mainly due to price fall in large-cap securities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 3.61 points down at 5,353.42.
The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 2.87 points down at 1,249.36 and with 2.27 points down at 1,249.36 respectively.
The daily trade fell to 17.51 crore shares from Sunday’s 20.65 crore shares. But, the day’s trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 639.31 crore from Taka 659.22 crore of the previous session.
At the DSE, prices of 108 securities out of the day’s 335 closed higher against 187 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Regent Textile, BD Auto Cars, Tosrifa, Interco and Monno Stafflers.
