Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

Stock markets closed on Tuesday with downward trend due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were textile and insurance.
A total of 161 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 14.86 points down at 5,648.91. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 3.68 points down at 1,333.83 and with 2.93 points down at 2,102.36.
The daily trade fell to 9.25 crore shares from Monday’s 15.42 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 241.71 crore from Taka 512.42 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 335 securities, prices of 95 securities closed higher against 196 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were ICBAGRANI1, ICB3RDNRB, Doreen Power, PF1STMF and ICBEPMF1S1. The major losing companies were CAPMBDBLMF, Queen South, CAPMIBBLMF, Nurani and Green Delta.
Salvo Chemical topped the turnover list followed by Queen South, Doreen Power, Wata Chemical, and Monno Ceramic.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 22.96 points down at 17,449.17.
At CSE, 222 issues were traded. Of those, 59 closed higher and 127 closed lower when 62.09 lakh shares worth Taka 16.52 crore changed hands.
