Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

Stock markets closed on Sunday with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities despite higher transactions.
The falling major sectors were bank, financial institutions, textile and engineering. A total of 200 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 74.85 points down at 5,832.13. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 14.17 points down at 1,361.35 and with 28.20 points down at 2,142.05.
The daily trade increased to 8.42 crore shares from Thursday’s 7.01 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE rose to Taka 384.04 crore from Taka 289.67 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 333 securities, prices of 67 securities closed higher against 243 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Sonar Bangla Insurance, Libra Infusion, Aziz Pipes, Sonali Ansh and Ibna Sina. The major losing companies were Dutch Bangla Bank, ILFSL, 1STPRIMFMF, AIL and BBS Cables.
