Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

Stocks on Sunday closed the session of the week with a downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were ispat and ceramics. A total of 163 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 142.89 points down at 5,504.78.
The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 25.87 points down at 1,235.43 and with 82.63 points down at 2,091.11.
The daily trade fell to 18.71 shares from Thursday’s 17.02 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 7715.243 million from Taka 7135.479 million of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 353 securities, prices of 43 securities closed higher against 224 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were MERCINS, Prime Insurance, Matin Insurance, Takaful Insurance and Republic. The major losing companies were CAPMIBBLMF, Mir Akter, SP Ceramics, Apollo Ispat and Beximco.
Beximco topped the turnover list followed by BATBC, Lanka Bangla Finance, Robi and Beximco Pharma.
